Hello lovelies! It’s now August, so to kick of my first proper post, I thought I’d share with you some of the things I’ve been loving and continuously coming back to throughout July. Here we go!
Formula 10.0.6 Keep Your Cool Breakout Calming Mask
I regularly get serious breakouts when I’m stressed or when a certain time of the month rolls around. So when I spotted this little green tube at Priceline, I though I may as well give it a go to try and save my face. It’s peppermint and coconut ingredients not only cool your face noticeably upon application, but also means it smells amazing! After a couple of days of use I noticed it began to help soothe my breakouts and speed up the healing process. On days when I use this, my make-up stays put for considerably longer and my spots tend to not be as sore. The only little problem I have with this product is that it flakes after it dries into your skin, but that can be easily fixed by going over your face with a damp tissue.
Real Techniques brushes by Samantha Chapman
I’ve been experimenting with a few different brushes over the past month, specifically powder brushes, and I haven’t found anything that is readily available in a drug store for a reasonable price that really compares with these beauties. They’re wonderfully soft and dense, and stay in tact after several washes. They’re really just an all-round joy to use!
Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder
My make-up never feels quite right unless I’ve used powder, and I definitely prefer a matte finish. I have this powder in the shade 003 Peach Glow, which is a brilliant match to my skin tone, and it works amazingly well. It’s not a very heavy product, but it really sets your make-up nicely. It’s raved about for a reason!
Rimmel Apocalips in 101 Celestial
The Rimmel Apocalips have only recently been released in Australia. I’ve tried out a few different shades, and Celestial is definitely my favourite. It’s a gorgeous darker pink, and defines the lips without looking too bold. It applies evenly, and doesn’t smudge or rub off oddly. I often carry it with me, and only need to touch it up once or twice in the day. This has gradually become my every day lip staple, I love it!
Nailene Undecorated Full Cover Nails in Square
I’m the type of person who always likes to have their nails painted. I think it really adds something classy and feminine to the hands. However, I just don’t have time to sit and wave my hands around while waiting for my several coats of nail polish to dry. So instead I’ve started painting fake nails (here I’ve used Essie Fishnet Stockings, a dark red that’s great for winter), and left them to dry before glueing them on. It means less time sitting and waiting, and the polish also lasts longer. I’ve had this set on for almost a week and they still look perfect!
T2 Just Chamomile Tea
I’ve only just tried chamomile tea for the first time within the last month, and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it! I think it’s perfect for the colder months when I reach for hot beverages more than cold, especially at night time. It’s very soothing, it smells delicious, and it’s caffeine free, so it won’t leave you tossing and turning in bed for hours on end. It’s a win win!
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
A bit of an odd favourite, but I’m not going to deny that I have a massive love of Star Wars, and I’ve recently had a bit of spare time to get stuck into the Cartoon Network series. It’s a great bit of fun, and it’s kept me entertained for hours. The future of the show is currently a bit of a grey area, but there are five seasons and a film that have been released so far. If you’re a fan of Star Wars (and let’s face it, Star Wars fans aren’t small in number), give this show a go if you haven’t already. Ahsoka Tano is practically perfect, and who doesn’t love Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Animal Crossing New Leaf
I jumped on the New Leaf bandwagon a little late, and I absolutely adore it! I’ve played most of the previous Animal Crossing games, and I think this is the best one yet. There are so many cute new additions in this game, it’s great to kill a little time with, but be careful, being the mayor of your own little town can suck you in!
So there are my July favourites! I hope you’ve enjoyed them, and thanks for having a gander! Lauren xx
